Candidates For Executive Positions

Evan Hughes has been a member of the Ottawa-Centre EDA since 2002. During that time, he has been involved with most aspects of running the EDA, including: event organizing, communications, and member outreach. He has been involved in all of the federal and provincial elections since 2002. Before becoming involved with the Green Party, Evan served as Special Events co-chair at the Peace and Environment Resource Centre.Evan hopes to make the EDA’s activities more effective through better planning; starting with the drafting of the riding’s first annual plan in May. Since the EDA is growing, he also hopes to formalize roles in the executive, making individuals responsible for specific projects.

Financial Officer

Phil Leonard has been the financial officer since last year’s AGM (April 2005). He was also the Official Agent for the David Chernushenko campaign during the most recent election. He has therefore gained a significant amount of experience with Elections Canada’s reporting requirements. In terms of qualifications, Phil holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and a Masters in Economics from University of Ottawa. He is employed as a senior economist with the federal government. Phil hopes to continue with his conservative approach to budgeting in future years.
