Ottawa South Pub Night

10:43pm on Sunday, December 10, 2006

Editors note: EDA stands for Electoral District Association, which is Elections Canada’s way of saying “riding.”

Our sibling EDA in Ottawa-South is starting things off right. They recently elected a new executive, and are inviting Ottawa’s Greens out to meet them. It’s at the Thirsty Toad Pub (Bank and Riverside) on Tuesday, December 12, at 7:00pm.

Pub nights can be fun. There’s usually a diverse mix of people there. Conversation can run from the political (talk of what’s happening on the hill), to visionary (where people want to see Canada go), to local (what’s happening in Ottawa). If nothing else, this will be a good chance to talk to the new exec, and see where they want their riding to go.

Dick Bakker, who is the new CEO of the Ottawa-South riding association, says that he wants to see Ottawa-South’s membership grow larger than Ottawa-Centre’s. As the president of the Ottawa-Centre EDA, I wish our southern friends luck, but promise that we’ll be doing our best to make sure that our riding grows at least as quickly as theirs.
