Members of the Green Party of Ontario (GPO) in Ottawa Centre voted unanimously in favour of Greg Laxton as our candidate in the October 10 2007 provincial election. Greg holds a master’s degree in political science and has previous public service experience as a policy analyst for the Ontario government’s Democratic Renewal Secretariat.

This will be Greg’s second time as a Green Party candidate. He was one of the GPO’s top vote getters when he ran in the Toronto riding of Trinity-Spadina in the 2003 provincial election, earning 2,362 or 5.84 percent of the ballots.

Greg and his fiancée – they’re getting married in early September – live in Ottawa Centre. “This is a great community, Greg said. “I’m looking forward to meeting with as many local citizens as I can before the October election. Greg hopes he can help the GPO make a breakthrough by being elected as one of the party’s first MPPs. The GPO’s popularity has surged in recent months, rising to 11 percent in a May 2007 poll conducted by SES.

Greg’s priorities include walkable communities, education, and democratic renewal.

Green Party veteran Chris Bradshaw ran in Ottawa Centre in the 2003 Ontario election, but has since moved out of the riding.
