Provincial election and referendum - VOTE!

9:00am on Wednesday, October 10, 2007

The Ontario election and referendum will be on Wed Oct 10, 2007.  We hope you will vote for Ottawa Centre’s provincial candidate, Greg Laxton to be the Green Party’s first Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP).

We also hope that you will vote for the Mixed Member Proportional electoral system in the referendum.  This referendum is a historic one for democracy.  An assembly of randomly-selected Ontario citizens has studied electoral systems and overwhelmingly agreed (>90%) that the Mixed Member Proportional system would be a more democratic system than our current system.  This referendum will be on a question decided by Ontarians, voted on by Ontarians, on the subject of democracy in Ontario.  This is not an issue of political parties - it is an issue of fairness, and ensuring the will of the people are accurately represented in our legislature.  But don’t take our word for it - learn more about the referendum yourself!  Visit Fair Vote Ontario’s site http://www.voteformmp.ca/ to learn the advantages of Mixed Member Proportional.  Or visit Elections Ontario’s neutral website explaining the mechanics of our current electoral system vs Mixed Member Proportional: www.yourbigdecision.ca/en_ca/default.aspx.

Whether you intend to support the Green Party or not, please vote.  Our democracy is in your hands.
