Hello everyone,

In an effort to reach out to our membership and our voters, the Ottawa Centre Greens (both Federal and Provincial) have decided to post a summary of the meetings the executives attend each month.  It should keep you in the loop with respect to upcoming events, changes in the executive’s responsibilities, upcoming general meetings and the like.

I’ll try to make it fun, and given that it is administrative stuff, I’ll also keep it short .  On with the show…

The Ottawa Centre EDA (Electoral District Association, that’s the Federal organization) Executive met on Sunday, April 19 at 7pm.  Here are some of the highlights from the meeting:

 Adopt-a-Park

• The preparations to Adopt-a-Park are going well, Kevin just needs to confirm with the city that we can indeed reserve the eastern half of Central Park (Bank and Clemow) for the Ottawa Centre Greens. Stay tuned for an upcoming cleanup, we’ll need your help!

Nomination Race: June 1st!

• The Nomination Meeting mailout was done last month, and we know of at least one candidate who has submitted her papers: Jen Hunter! (Our candidate in the last election).
• The Nomination Race will be held on June 1st, 2009 at the McNabb Community Centre, 7pm. Be there to choose your Green candidate in the next Federal elections.
• We are hoping to draw a lot of new members for the Nomination Race, starting with the volunteers in the last campaign. If you are not yet a member of the Green Party, you may be getting a call from us in the next month asking you to join!

Fundraiser with Elizabeth May

• We have a tentative fundraiser for the next campaign with Elizabeth May on June 8, 6-9pm. She will also be there to promote her new book: Loosing Confidence: Power, Politics And The Crisis In Canadian Democracy. Stay tuned for ticket details.

• If your membership has lapsed recently, expect a call from the EDA Executive or our candidate of record, Jen Hunter.  We really want you to renew!
• If you’ve just rejoined, thank you! You can also expect a call from our team telling you so.
