Provincial CA Update for May
Hello,
The local CA (provincial constituency association) met on May 27th - here are some highlights from the meeting. By the way, the local EDA met on May 20th as well.
Local Business Award
- Arbour Environmental Shoppe, which sells environmentally safe goods, won the local business award. The framed certificate will be presented to one of the co-owners at the June 19th fundraiser.
- The regional/provincial winner was Sam Jake’s Inn in Merrickville.
Leadership with Heart
- A reminder about the great event on June 19th with Elizabeth May and Jen Hunter.
- Members should have received their invitations by now.
Summer Canvassing
- Mark Mackenzie is coordinating this summer’s canvassing and is looking for four volunteers. We want to begin identifying potential supporters for the next campaign.
- If you are interested, please visit our volunteer form.
Recycling information on our website
- We hope to include some video to liven up the subject and to answer in a fun way what is recyclable and what is not.
Pride Parade
- We are planning to participate in this year’s Pride parade on 30 August. We need volunteers to assist in planning the event.
- We’ll carry banners of both provincial and federal GP associations
Fundraiser
- We still need a Fundraising Chair, so please, if you are interested in filling this position, contact us soonest.
- Great suggestion for a fundraiser is a Circle Ottawa Centre by bicycle with the suggested date of July 17th.
- We hope to gather pledges from friends/relatives/acquaintances and perhaps sponsorships from local cycle shops.
- There will be kid-friendly things such as face-painting as well music and speeches for the adults.
Electoral Reform
- Martin is starting a wiki on electoral reform; he would like to get feeling of who is really interested in it.

Until next time…
