New Year’s Celebration with Jen Hunter and Rob Steen
Join our federal candidate Jen Hunter and Rob Steen to celebrate the new year on Saturday, January 2nd from 3-6pm at 46 Simcoe Street. Jen would love to have the pleasure of launching 2010 with a toast to a wonder-full, joy-full and green year.
2009 Tax Year Rebates
As many of you know already there are significant tax rebates for donations to political parties and with 2009 coming to a close now is a great time to make a donation locally in Ottawa Centre.
Mike Schreiner has set a goal of raising $1,000,000 for the GPO between now and the 2011 election to put us on sound footing. Your donation do the provincial CA in Ottawa Centre will help us reach that goal and allow our future candidate to run a strong local campaign.
On the federal side, Jen Hunter asks that “you give generously to Ottawa Centre’s Green Party of Canada today to help make our vision of a strong voice for fiscal, environmental and social sustainability a reality for all Canadians.” (read more…) With the possibility of a federal election always on the horizon, your donation to the federal EDA in Ottawa Centre will mean we are that much more prepared to assemble a compelling campaign on short notice.
Monthly Social and Phone Canvassing Night
Starting in January we’re going to start up a monthly social night where we meet at someone’s home for an informal gathering of local green volunteers, and combine it with phone canvassing to identify our supporters and also recruit more volunteers! Dylan Lineger has generously offered to host the first one.
Your invited to come out and meet other Greens!
When: January 27th, 6:30pm to 9pm
Where: Apt 3, 165 Hinchey Avenue
Contact: Dylan Lineger, 613-720-4832
What To Bring: a cell phone to for making calls, a laptop if you can (saves on paper), and any drinks/snacks you would like to share with everyone.

Jen Hunter will host the followup event in February - we are targeting the 4th Wednesday of each month; so if you can’t make it in January we’ll see you in February!
(A word on phone-canvassing: it’s actually a myth that phone canvassing is hard or that people are mean. After being coached through the first few calls you’ll discover that since we are polite to them, people are overwhelmingly polite back. Come out and try - you’ll see! -Kevin)
Provincial Candidate Search - 2011 Ontario General ElectionWith two years until the next general election in Ontario, we’re warming up the candidate selection machine because it’s almost time to choose our next Provincial Candidate. The official nomination process won’t begin for at least two months but now is the time to start recruiting potential candidates. So if you would like to run, or want to suggest someone to me so I can reach out to them, I would love to hear about it. Having a vibrant nomination race is an excellent way to bring new people into the party!
