Candidate – Jen Hunter

Jen Hunter
Green Party of Canada candidate 2008, Ottawa Centre

Jen Hunter is a graduate of Queen’s University, where she received her honours degree in political studies. Her passion for involvement and leadership is reflected by her roles as an executive member of Equal Voice National Capital Chapter, leader of an annual international Team Learning Adventure, co-lead of a women’s leadership event in Toronto, and first international Board Member for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Ms Hunter has a uniquely warm and approachable manner that is central to her success as a facilitator, and will serve her well as a political candidate. As a businesswoman, she founded The Learning Catalyst, an organization deeply committed to developing, sharing, applying and refining tools, methods and processes for leveraging our collective wisdom. Prior to this role, she was a leader for a local software company, a consultant in organizational transformation.

She replaces two-time candidate David Chernushenko, who earned more votes than any other Green in the 2006 federal election. Mr. Chernushenko decided last year to take a break from politics in order to rejoin the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy, as well as to focus on other priorities, including his Living Lightly film and Web project.

“I’m excited to win the Green candidacy in Ottawa Centre, and I can’t wait to start building a campaign team and preparing for the next election, Ms Hunter said. “My first priority is to engage local supporters — and gain many new ones — as we set a course for real change in Parliament.
