—– Nomination Race for Federal Candidate —–
The Ottawa Centre EDA will be opening a nomination race in the next few weeks to select the next Federal Green Party Candidate. The actual selection meeting won’t be until June, but now is the time for potential candidates to step forward and building support for their campaign!
Are you interested in being a candidate? Or do you know someone who would be a good candidate? If so, contact us to get more information on the selection process.
The official race notice will be sent out by April 1st to current and lapsed Green Party of Canada members.
—– Importance of Provincial/Municipal Politics to our Everyday Lives —–
Why are provincial and local politics important in our everyday lives?
Panel discussion with:
Gilles Paquet, FRSC, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa.
Patrick Fafard, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa.
The delivery of services which we consider essential to our daily lives is split between federal, provincial and local governments. While we often look to the federal government for leadership, real change often takes place as a result of initiative by local and provincial governments. Who holds power over our everyday lives, and which orders of government should be targeted by activist citizens?
Join us in a night of discussion about governance and Canadian politics, on April 2nd at 7:00 PM in the Terminus room (2nd floor of the University of Ottawa University Centre)
Date: April 2nd
Where: University of Ottawa – Terminus Room (2nd floor of the University Centre)
Time: 7:00pm to 10:30pm
Contact Phil Mineau (philippe.mineau@gmail.com) for more information.

—– BC Referendum —–
BC is having another referendum on changing their electoral system. There is a very good chance that this time the referendum will pass: in 2005, 58% approved of the new electoral system but it fell just short of the required 60%.
Julien Lamarche (julien.lamarche@gmail.com) is organizing a phone canvassing effort to call BC residents to encourage them to vote “Yes!” for electoral reform. Contact Julien for more details if you would like contribute some time.
